XI Olympiad in Berlin in 1936
Ich rufe die Jugend der Welt
Nazi eagle and swastika
This is an outstanding example of the rare, big 10 x 12-3/4 inch special Sieger Buch or Winners book of the XI Olympiad in Berlin in 1936.

It is a very, very limited production spiral bound book of full-page photographic plates (real photographs made from negatives - NOT pages printed by mechanical process) presented only to people who had worked as volunteers for the Olympic Committee during the Berlin Olympics. Even the photographs of Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler and Reichssportführer Hans von Tschammer und Osten are large genuine photographs with their signatures printed in blue ink. Each of the other photos in the book are actual photographs with the captions printed below in grey ink.

Reichskanzler Adolf Hitler
The book covers are a beautiful leather-like substance in pure red and white. In the center of the red band on the front cover is a beautifully detailed copper metal Olympic bell bearing the inscription in German “I call the Youth of the World” (Ich rufe die Jugend der Welt). On the front of the spine is a black leather band attached to the book with a beautifully diestruck bronze eagle and swastika emblem of the Reichssportführer and Reichs Sport Organizations (shwn above). That cover has been protected for the last 70 years by a Schützblatt of clear Celophan produced by Kalle & Co. AG of Wiesbaden. The whole book is still contained in its original presentation box!

One of the really special aspects of this exceptionally rare XI Olympiad memorial book are the two pages following the title page which contain replica autographs of the gold medal winners from around the word such as Jesse Owens, Naoto Tajima, Ibolya Csak, Marton Lörincz, Cornelius Johnson, Tilly Fleischer, Ken Carpenter, Rie Mastenbroek, Frank Lewis, Glenn Morris, and many more.

In addition to the Hitler and von Tschammer und Osten portraits, photos include a title page overview of the Berlin Olympic Stadium, the Brandenburg Gate with a troop of Nazi Brown Shirts passing below, the Berlin radio tower, Unter den Linden at Friedrichstrasse festooned with enormous Nazi swastika banners, the Deutschlandhalle, the regatta harbor at Grünau, the Olympic Village, the Olympic sauna, the Reichssport Field, the Reichsakademie für Leibesübungen, Dietrich Eckhart Stage, the swimming stadium, the east towers of the Reichssport Field, etc., etc.
There are 19 picture pages and two autograph pages spiral bound inside the thick padded covers. The Celophan that protects the covers is fully removable like a dust jacket. It has a few cracks and a couple of pieces broken out of it. Very rare, very good condition.
