UNUSED
The two model 1935 German gas masks offered here are dated 1939 and were made for use in the tropics by the Afrikakorps. Both of the are clearly marked T.O. (Tropen Operationsgebiet or Tropical Theater of Operations), and are made in DAK tan color material (not grey-green), and both have spent the last 60+ years in an Afrikakorps hand grenade container in an attic in München (Munich), Germany! We removed them from the Afrikakorps Ei-Handgranaten container in July of 2005. You may click ate the bottom at this page and have a look at the DAK hand grenade box.
Inside DAK gas mask Nazi gas mask straps
While both gas masks are in fine unused condition, the one with the brown neck strap (pictured above as well as to the left and right) is the better of the two. As you can see, it is marked T.O. in the left side of the face mask, on the detachable head band, and at the junction of the elastic bands that cross over the top of the head. The threaded metal piece at the mouth of the mask is marked A.S.T. 39-21 as is the canvas at the bottom of the mask. The plastic lenses are clear and the elastic bands still stretch like the day they were made.
The gas mask filter is also new-old-stock and is marked C.P.1935.M. on the bottom and DUCEL-39-10-O.C. 39-/67-99 on top. The original screw cap and rubber stopper are still in place on the filter. The rubber hose to connect the filter to the face mask is very fresh and supple. The filter may also be threaded directly into the face of the mask without using the hose. Very good condition. The second gas mask, the one with the greenish neck strap (pictured to the left and right as well as below), is also unused and marked and made in the same way as the first one. It comes with an unused filter and rubber hose just like the one above.

The difference is that the material inside the cloth portion of the face mask is slightly sticky.

Inside DAK gas mask
Of course, we could have sprinkled some talc or powder inside and cured the stickiness problem but we prefer not to alter the item prior to sale. We leave any alterations to be made to the buyer as he or she is in the best position to make a decision based on what use he or she will make of the item. The filter for this second gas mask has a very small dent in one side. Very good condition.
