All Nazi calendars that retain nearly all of their pages 60+ years after the fact, are rare. Among the rarest of all Third Reich calendars are those of the Hitler Youth which feature photographs with some connection to the Nazi youth organization and its leaders.
This is a nice example of the 7-5/8 x 9-1/8 inch, very heavily illustrated 60 page HJ- KALENDER for the year 1939. Printed by Verlag für Soziale Ethik und Kunstpflege for the Reichsjugendführung in October 1938, this perforated calendar has one page for each week of the year (except the first week) and each page bears a large photograph involving the Hitler-Jugend in one way or another. There is also a description of the picture or other historical information related to the subject.
Subjects are as diverse as Hitler Youth boys blowing on trumpets, HJ boys and girls collecting WHW contributions, Hitlerjugend shooting and skiing, the Marine HJ, the Hitler Youth with Adolf Hitler, Hitler Youth girls at sea, the HJ at Reichsparteitag in Nuremberg, Hitler-Jugend girls with balls and rings, Hitler Youth encampments, Baldur von Schirach at home with his wife and daughter Angelika, HJ girls decorating the grave of Hitler’s parents, etc.
Complete except for the first page and in good used condition. The lower left edge of the front cover and the 8 and 15 January pages is torn.
