This is a very nice example of the rare 9-1/2 x 12-1/4 inch 88 page very, very heavily illustrated soft cover book EUROPA KONTINENT DER JUGEND, as published at the direction of Reichsleiter Baldur von Schirach by Verlag Die Pause in Wien in cooperation with Verlag Bibliografisches Institut AG in Leipzig in 1942, at the time of the founding of the Europäsische Jugendverband (Association of European Youth).
Not for the faint-hearted, this book speaks directly to the question of how Europe got to where it was and how under the leadership of the Nazis in Germany it had every intention of taking its place at the forefront of human civilization.
National Socialist Reichsleiter and Hitler Youth Leader Baldur von Schirach and the Italian Minister Renato Ricci entitle their opening article “Solidarity of European Youth: a Battle Against Roosevelt”. Following pages provide graphic and textual highlights of the history of Europe and its art, the European community, music, etc.
The concluding pages show the youth of Europe (including young men from Sweden and Portugal) in their combat year either at the front or on the way to the front.
The rarest kind of mid-war Hitler Youth and European Fascist Youth material in very nice condition.
The last half of the book concentrates on Nazi and other fascist youth groups, their leaders, members and their training, from the Italian GIL to the Belgian Rex-Jugend, Slovakian Hlinka Jugend, the Croatian Ustascha Jugend, Danish NSU, the Dutch Nationale Jeugdstorm, the Hungarian Levente Jugend, as well as the youth organizations of Bulgaria, Romania, Spain, etc. Each of the youth organizations is beautifully depicted and very well explained.
