HJ identity document
This is a wonderful and unusually complete grouping of Hitler Youth documents of many kinds, from a single person. They are not in pristine condition, but rather show every evidence of being carried over an extended period by a very active young man.

The grouping actually consists of 14 separate items rather than the 13 shown in our top photo. The extra item not shown, is the Besitzzeugnis or Authorization to have and wear the Hitler Youth Shooting Badge. It was inside the Schießbuch des deutschen Jungvolks when we took the top photo.

All of the documents in this grouping are 100% original, unembellished, and belonged to Gustav Ernst Mangold, born 8 February 1928 and residing in Esslingen, Germany. The documents include the Gesundheitspaß (Health Pass) numbered 12 above and dated 31 March 1938, 7 May 1938 and 6 May 1939. The pass has 6 panels and folds to 3-5/8 x 4-3/4 inches. The Hitler Youth Mitgliedsausweis (Membership ID) numbered 8 above and dated 7 March 1940. The ID has 6 panels and folds to 3-1/4 x 4-3/4 inches.

The Hitlerjugend Führerausweis (HJ Leader ID) numbered 10 above and dated 30 January 1942. The ID has 6 panels and folds to 2-7/8 x 4-5/8 inches. The Schießbuch numbered 7 above and dated 9 December 1942. This is a 4 x 5-3/4 inch, 16 page booklet endorsed on virtually every page with Mangold’s shooting records. It comes with the 2-7/8 x 4-1/8 inch Besitzzeugnis for the HJ Shooting Badge.

The Leistungskarte für den Erwerb des ,,K.-Scheins der Hitler-Jugend’’ numbered 13 above and dated 21 August 1943. This 5-7/8 x 8-1/4 inch, 4-panel document is a recap of Mangold’s shooting and Hitler Youth military training records. The Gesundheitspaß (Health Record) numbered 11 above and dated 17 December 1943. The pass has 8 panels and folds to 3-1/8 x 4-3/4 inches.

The Vorläufiger Annahmeschein or Temporary Acceptance Form numbered 2 above accepting Mangold as an Aspirant for the Reserve Officer Program of the army. The 5-7/8 x 8-1/4 inch document is dated 15 May 1944. The Hitler-Jugend-Nachrichtenschein A (HJ Communications Certificate) numbered 9 above and dated 17 June 1944. The one-sided card measures 4-1/8 x 5-7/8 inches and proves that Mangold completed HJ Signal Instruction and was certified for service.
The Vorläufiger Besitzzeugnis or Temporary Proof of Ownership of Hitler-Jugend-Nachrichtenschein B dated 17 June 1944. The Vorläufiger Besitzzeugnis of Hitler-Jugend-Nachrichtenschein C dated 17 June 1944. These items measure 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inches and are shown as number 5 above. The last type Wehrmacht Wehrpaß numbered 1 above and dated 15 November 1944. The Wehrpass (shown below) states that from 1 September 1944 through 15 March 1945, Mangold served as a Luftwaffe Helfer no doubt making use of his Hitler Youth signals skills.

The 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch Annahmeschein or Acceptance Certificate from the Army dated 17 February 1945 accepting Mangold as a Candidate for the Reserve Officer program.

Finally, there is the 5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch Ordre de levée d’écrou issued on 29 June 1945 by the French Military Government at the Möltkekaserne in Stuttgart releasing prisoner-of-war Gustav Mangold from captivity.

This exceptional grouping of Hitler Youth material is in good or better condition and we have attempted to illustrate it in the most realistic manner.
