Der Reichssportwettkampf der Hitler-Jugend is a 5-3/4 x 7-7/8 inch, 32 page softcover book published by the Reichsjugendführung, the Leadership of the Hitler Youth in Berlin, on 1 February 1942 and contains the guidelines for the annual HJ sport championships.

The first paragraph of the introduction states that "it is the will of the Führer that all German boys and girls must participate in an athletic performance test once per year", to prove that each and everyone has the power and endurance to help improve the German Nation. It was stated plainly that the responsibility of each HJ and BdM Leader was to make sure that everywhere in Nazi Germany, even in the smallest village, these competitions would take place according to these rules.

This in-depth Nazi publication spells out who had to participate (Pimpfe, Hitlerjungen, Jungmädel, BdM-Mädel, Mädel des BdM-Werkes "Glaube und Schönheit"), who could not participate, the different age groups (thru 14 years old, thru 18 years old), who was in charge in every area of preparations, sport facilities, medical services, press, pins and badges for winners, rules for different events, the reporting of records and winners, etc.

The original owner, a member of the Hitler Youth who participated in the 1942 Reichssportwettkampf der Hitler-Jugend, wrote several competition categories on the front cover as well as inside the back cover under the Index.
