| IMPORTANT: This is not a Nazi era Krupp Berndorf serving piece that has been altered in any way to appear to be what it never was. This piece of LAH tableware is guaranteed to be absolutely authentic and Sepp Dietrich and Adolf Hitler may very well have been served from it. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Officially, this piece of tableware is called in German an ,,Ovale Schwere Bratenplatte 48.5 or Oval, Heavy Roast Meat Serving Platter 48.5 cm [19-1/4 inches] long. This thick 5 pound piece was made by the very famous silver service manufacturer Krupp Berndorf of Berndorf, Germany in 1938 and is very nicely marked on the back side at the right end. It is very heavy Alpaca metal plated with 25 grams of real silver and so marked. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The firm Krupp Berndorf made silverware and silver service articles for Adolf Hitler and for the Reichschancellery in Berlin. They also made a lot of similar silver plated tableware during the Third Reich which they sold to hotels and institutions all over Greater Germany. What makes this piece very special and perhaps unique is the logo or monogram of the LAH (Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler or Personal SS Bodyguards of Adolf Hitler) that Krupp Berndorf applied to the rim. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| That LAH monogram cant mistaken for anything else - it was used only by the LSSAH and by no one else. The monogram was rolled on to the rim of the platter with a steel die under great pressure before plating and was NOT engraved into the metal by hand. The platter has been carefully examined by Third Reich experts Ray & Josephine Cowdery who have provided us with a notarized Certificate of Authenticity for it. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| When Austria was incorporated into Hitlers Grossdeutschland (Greater Germany) in April 1938, so was the old and famous medals manufacturing town of Berndorf and the firm of Krupp Berndorf. This elegant meat platter was manufactured by Krupp Berndorf later that year for the LAH in Berlin.
The platter shows wear that we would consider normal for table service pieces of this kind that had been in use for a period of five or six years. Very good condition. |
