Der nationalsozialistische Staat (The National Socialist State) by Dr. Walther Gehl is a compact 1937 Nazi book covering the foundation and creation of Nazi Germany, national history and useful social studies written in concise and straightforward language.

It was published after 2-½ years of National Socialist rule in Germany and has six main sections:
Intellectual Foundation, National Organization, Economic and Corporate Reshaping, Racial Culture, Church and Religion and German Foreign Policy.

The first section covers Race and Folklore and the Family as the Reproductive Cell of the Nation. The second section has chapters on the Nazi Party and State, Leadership and the Nation, the Position of the SA and SS, Administration among other topics.

Part 3 covers agriculture, managers and laborers, the domestic German and foreign economic market, the DAF, the role of women, and the German Youth. Section 4 has chapters on Art, Education, Law, Physical Fitness, Labor Service and the Press. Section 5 is about religion and the role of the church in Nazi Germany and Section 6 covers German foreign policy, the end of the unjust Treaty of Versailles, and Germany’s future contribution to peace in Europe.
There are informative organizational charts and pictures of Adolf Hitler, military exercises, the Zeppelinwiese on the Nazi Party Day Grounds in Nuremberg, the Führerbau and Nazi Honor Temples in Munich (shown below), Ordensburg Crossingsee in Pomerania, Hermann Göring’s new Air Ministry, the newly built House of Education in Bayreuth, photo portraits of Nazi Reichsleiter, the new Olympic Stadium in Berlin with its Dietrich-Eckart-Bühne, U-Boot ‘U9’ in the harbor of Rostock, Panzerschiff ‘Admiral Scheer’, etc.

The 5 x 7-½ inch softcover book has 220 pages of text with 44 pictures as well as 5 sketches. In the back are 24 pages of other educational books by the publisher, Ferdinand Hirt of Breslau.

This example of Der nationalsozialistische Staat is in very nice little-used condition and comes with its striking original Third Reich dust jacket which shows little wear for a 86+ year old book. Tight spine and no odor.
