This is a particularly nice example of the very rare 8 x 8-1/2 inch, 96 page, very, very heavily illustrated softcover book ,,Das Opel-Programm 1939’’ as published by the General Motors subsidiary, Adam Opel AG in Rüsselsheim near Frankfurt am Main, Germany for the 1939 Auto Show in Berlin.

This amazing publication provides not only a nice history of the company, it depicts, prices and explains in detail the entire German Opel car and truck line for 1939.

Those vehicles include the famous top-of-the-line Admiral, the Kapitan, Kadette, Olympia cars and the renowned Opel Blitz trucks. Of course, some of these Opel models bear a striking resemblance to their Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac cousins across the Atlantic at GM in America.

The trucks and commercial vehicles are uniquely European. The 1939 convertibles were favorite transportation for high ranking SS and Wehrmacht Officers during World War II.

Special products shown in the marvelous book include ambulances, propaganda busses (with a Nazi eagle and swastika on the side), fire trucks, side-dump trucks for the Reichsautobahn, postal busses, tanker trucks, water trucks, etc.,etc.

A good portion of the book is used to show and explain motor options and the advanced all-steel construction methods used by Opel to manufacture world-class cars and trucks. There are complete technical specifications and even racing records established by SS and NSKK drivers in Opel cars in 1938 competition.

The red band at the bottom of the cover is removable.
