SS-VERFÜGUNGSTRUPPE SS-STANDARTE ,,GERMANIA TRUPPENAUSWEIS (NAZI MILITARY IDENTITY DOCUMENT) IN GREEN LEINEN |

| Prior to the general issue of the standard German Army Soldbuch to German armed forces personnel during the mid-1939 mobilization, soldiers, sailors, armed SS troops and airmen drew pay and identified themselves with a rugged little 4-1/8 x 5-7/8 inch two-sided piece of leinen (similar to oilcloth) called a Truppenausweis - the standard military ID. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The extremely rare SS-Verfügungstruppe Truppenausweis number 18965 we offer here is in the name of Staffelmann Wolfgang Proschwitzer who was born in Trautenau on 5 January 1918 and entered the SS 1 November 1938. He stood 5 feet 8 inches tall, he weighed 138 pounds, was of slim build, had an oval face, reddish-blond hair, blue eyes and a scar on his left index finger.
The picture on his ID shows him in a SS uniform and is stamped with 1-3/8 inch metal stamp with an eagle and swastika in the center and bearing the lettering 13. (J.G.)/SS-Standarte ,,Germania SS-Verfügungstruppe. Pasted on top of eachother in the lower right corner are white, green, yellow and red Schutzstaffeln der NSDAP quarterly validation stamps. The Truppenausweis is signed by a SS-Hauptsturmführer und Chef. The back side also bears a Germania validation as well as a validation from SS-Verfügungstruppe II./SS-Artillerie-Standarte. |

| The SS-Verfügungstruppe (VT or Full-Time Militarized SS Troops - the direct predecessors of the Waffen-SS) were near the end of 1939 absorbed into and renamed SS Division ,,Deutschland, SS Division ,,Reich and eventually SS Division ,,Das Reich. The Division participated in the invasion of the Netherlands in May 1940. Elements including the ,,Germania regiment were split off from ,,Das Reich as other SS divisions were formed. This is a very rare Nazi SS Truppenausweis in excellent condition. |
