THE RARE ORIGINAL 11 FEBRUARY 1943 EDITION OF DAS SCHWARZE KORPS NEWSPAPER WITH THE LATEST FROM THE EAST FRONT, SS PROMOTIONS, SS BATTLEFIELD DEATHS, ETC.

Das Schwarze Korps was the weekly newspaper of the SS published in close co-operation with the Sicherheitsdienst (SD or Nazi Security Service) in Berlin, which had virtual editorial control. Das Schwarze Korps reinforced Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler’s beliefs and ideas and was meant to boost morale in the SS. SS doctrine about race and the superiority of members of the SS was scattered throughout the paper, and the content was extremely hostile to Jews, communism, freemasonry, and the Catholic Church.

Above, every edition of Das Schwarze Korps had one or two cartoons, this one dealing with shady types walking around on the "Dark Continent" as observed by American sailors in Algiers.

There are death announcements of SS men who died on the Ostfront in battle, as a result of an air attack or from wounds received in battle in the East. The ages of the dead in these announcements range from 17 to 33 and there are SS-Oberjunker, SS-Unterscharfüher, SS-Obersturmführer, SS-Hauptsturmführer, SS-Rottenführer and other ranks amongst the men who died a Heldentod for the Führer und Grossdeutschland.

Offered for sale on this USMBOOKS web page is the original 8-page 11 February 1943 edition of Das Schwarze Korps. The rare World War II SS newspaper has coverage about the tough combat situation in the Soviet Union (“the Wehrmacht shielding the European continent from Bolshevism”), and the SS casualties at Stalingrad.

There is an article about famous SS-Gruppenführer Felix Steiner, Commander of SS-Panzer-Grenadier Division Wiking, after he received the Eichenlaub for his Knights Cross, as well as an announcement about the promotion by Adolf Hitler of famous SS-Obergruppenführer Siegfried Taubert (Burghauptmann of Wewelsburg Castle) and other SS-Gruppenführer and SS-Brigadeführer, effective 30 January 1943.
