This is a nice used example of the rare 6-1/4 x 8-1/2 inch, 270 page heavily illustrated hard cover book Waffen-SS im Einsatz (The Waffen-SS in Action) by Nazi General Paul Hausser.
With bold SS runes and the SS motto MEINE EHRE HEISST TREUE on the front cover, this 1953 Third Edition is dedicated to "Our Fallen Comrades". A previous owner was able to obtain the autograph of Pista (Stefan) von Szenhegredy on the title page in 1965 but without explaining who "Pista" was.

The Introduction is by Heinz Guderian, the famous Nazi Panzer commander. The text of the book is an absolutely wonderful explanation of not only the Waffen-SS, but their participation in every major military event in Europe during World War II.
It is splendidly illustrated with dozens of dozens of photographs of the obscure and the well-known in the Waffen-SS from Panzer Meyer in Mariupol, to Hauptsturmführer Michel Wittmann to General Gille and his ordinary SS men. Sepp Dietrich and Leon Degrelle grace the pages as do the commanders and Knights Cross winners of the most illustrious units of the Waffen-SS.
Waffen-SS im Einsatz ends with the chapter about the Malmedy Trial of SS personnel and comments by Jochen Peiper from his prison cell in Landsberg. One of the final photos shows a graveyard and it is followed by Appendix information about Waffen-SS units and their commanders.
This book was quickly removed from the market in Germany in the early 1950s because of the SS runes on the front cover, and the general complimentary tone toward the SS. Taped inside the front cover is Hausser's rebuttal to those who considered the book unrepentant, and a small slip of paper with pictures of the unit stamps of Feldpost number 48963A and Grenadier-Bataillon 91 and the notation Panzerjäger Abt. 2 der 2. SS-Panzer-Division ,,Das Reich".
