On this USMBOOKS web page we offer all the rare 1942 issues of the the weekly Nazi photo magazine Wiener Illustrierte (The Viennese Illustrated) bound together as a 11-1/2 x 15-1/2 hardcover book. These are issue 1 dated 7 January 1942 through issue 52 dated 30 December 1942.

Among the subjects shown and discussed in articles in these 52 issues of Wiener Illustrierte are Der Kampf im Osten or The Battle on the East Front (the SS in Action, Troops on Skis, in the mud); Education of Japanese Youth; Schnellboote Destroying the Enemy; New WHW charity Abzeichen; New York City; Atlantic U-Boot Bunkers; the HJ Winter Games in Prague; several articles about Axis Members Italy and Japan and their Promising Youth; Falconry, Ordensburg Sonthofen; the Meeting of Hitler and Mussolini in Salzburg; Schönbrunn Palace; German Tobacco; Glaube und Schönheit (BdM Belief and Beauty); the War in Finland, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Russia, North Africa, the Pacific and Atlantic; the Announcement of the Death of NSKK Leader Reichsleiter Adolf Hühnlein and the funeral of SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Polizei Reinhard Heydrich; ...

... the Children of Soldiers; Women in the Work Force and Armed Forces; Reichssender Wien; Culture in Vienna; Care of Wounded Soldiers; the Achilles Heel of America - Alaska; the NSV; Stuka Pilots of Tomorrow; War and Art; The New European Youth; Christmas on the Homefront and for Soldiers; and much, much more.
Clearly, the main news in each issue was reports and photos of the ongoing war! Every branch of the Wehrmacht is shown under nearly every possible circumstance imaginable!
These big 11-1/2 x 15-1/2 inch magazines contain a treasure trove of military photo material, much of it not published elsewhere during the Third Reich.
Wiener Illustrierte was sold by subscription and on news stands. It was also supported heavily by advertisers such as Philips, Agfa, Wybert, UHU, Bols, Memphis Cigarettes, Osram, Junghans, Nivea, Cinzano, Deutsche Reichslotterie, Borgward, Opel, Pelikan, Fleurop, as well as with ads from miscellaneous razor blade and pimple cream manufacturers!
Each magazine also contains crossword puzzles, excerpts from novels, theater and movie news, recipes, cartoons, fashion, etc.
Naturally, the fact that these 52 rare issues of Wiener Illustrierte were professionally bound when they were new has done much to preserve them over the following 68+ years. The pages and the book are all in very good condition. Complete, no torn pages, no articles or photos cut out. Weighs over 6 pounds!
