The airport at Gatow on the near-west side of Berlin was built in 1935 as part of the re-armamament of Nazi Germany. It was officially inaugurated by Adolf Hitler on 2 November 1935 and he used Flugplatz Gatow frequently for his flights between Berlin and Berchtesgaden. On 26 April 1945 Hanna Reitsch used the Gatow airport for her last flight in and out of Berlin.

From 1935 until 1945 is also housed the Luftkriegsschule 2 and the Luftkriegsakademie for the training of Luftwaffe Officers.

Offered for sale on this USMBOOKS web page is a rare book published for men at the Luftkriegsschule Berlin-Gatow for their Christmas celebration in 1935. The 5 x 6-¾ inch, 32 page satirical softcover Film-Wochenschau contains funny cartoons spoofing the air force, air tactics, bomb boys, hygiene, Mussolini's aviator son, navigation and girls at dances at Gatow.

Rare and in very good, little used condition. No odor.
