Nazi Reichsleiter Martin Bormann
Martin Ludwig Bormann (shown in the reference photo right) joined the Nazi Party in 1927, and was a member of the SA and SS as well. He was the private secretary of Adolf Hitler, a very important and influential position that he used to control the flow of information to, and access to Hitler. After Rudolf Hess fled to England in 1941, Bormann also became Head of the Parteikanzlei, the Nazi Party Chancellery, a position that gave him final approval over civil service appointments, as well as the possibility to review and approve legislation.

In 1929 he married Gerda Buch who was the daughter of Walter Buch, SA and SS member and jurist who was the head of the Supreme Party Court (Oberste Parteigericht). Between April 1930 and September 1943 the couple had 10 children.

Aside from his personal residence on the Obersalzberg (Haus Bormann above the Hotel zum Türken), Bormann was responsible for the construction of the Gutshof (experimental farm) and the Kehlstein Haus, often referred to as "Eagle’s Nest". The Verwaltung Obersalzberg was a series of administrative buildings around the Berghof, in use during the long periods of time Hitler spent above Berchtesgaden.
The original piece of Martin Bormann stationery measures 200 x 210 mm (7-7/8 x 8-1/4 inch) and the envelope measures 115 x 160 mm (4-½ x 6-¼ inch). Both are unused. The envelope is empty but sealed.
