The Deutsche Kolonial Zeitung was the monthly magazine of the Reichskolonialbund that was in charge of looking after German colonial interests abroad.
Magazines of the Reichskolonialbund published during Nazi times are rare. The two examples offered here are issues 9 and 10 of September and October 1939, a particularly historic period in 20th century central European history.
In addition to a wide variety of advertising for German companies doing business in foreign lands, and foreign German companies exporting to Germany, the magazines contain illustrated articles of general interest on subjects like France in North Africa, Coins and Currency of the German Colonies, the Tragedy of Ivory, the World under Arms, the German Victory in Poland, Northern Settlers under the Southern Sun, Can Europeans Acclimate to the Tropics?, and others.
These Deutsche Kolonial Zeitung magazines measure about 9 x 12 inches and have 36 and 20 well-illustrated pages respectively. The spine of the September 1939 issue has a piece of scotch tape on it, otherwise the rare 71 year old magazines are in very nice used condition.
