NAZI HOUSE OF GERMAN ART SHOW BROCHURES

INFORMATIONAL
BROCHURES
USED TO
INTEREST PEOPLE
ATTEND
EXHIBITIONS
AT THE
HAUS DER
DEUTSCHEN KUNST

IN MÜNCHEN (MUNICH)
Most collectors are familiar with the exhibition catalogs that could be purchased at the various exhibitions held at the HAUS DER DEUTSCHEN KUNST (House of German Art) in Munich from 1937 through 1944. The exhibition catalogs are far more common today than the Prospekt or informational brochure for the same exhibitions.

Each informational brochure measured about 8-1/4 x 9-1/4 inches (folded to about 4-3/4 x 8-1/4 inches), and each had a very similar front cover panel using Richard Klein’s logo from the front of Kunst im Dritten Reich magazine. Inside, a two-page spread showed pictures of items on display in the exhibition, gave dates and times, entrance fees and a phone number for information. The back cover always showed views from the restaurant, the Bierstuberl and the bar / dance floor below the galleries.

These brochures were sent out by the Munich Tourist Office to people who planned to visit the Hauptstadt der Bewegung, were available at all hotel front desks and were included in magazines and mailings sent to those who might be interested in the subject of the exhibition. 99% were thrown away so they are very rare today.
