In September 1939 Nazi Germany and Stalin’s Soviet Union invaded and divided the country of Poland. These days one never hears of the participation of the Soviet Union or of their acquisition by force of 3/5 of the country of Poland.
Die Pause magazine was the largest and most prestigious photo feature magazine published in Greater Germany’s second largest city, Wien (Vienna). This is year 4, issue 8 of the large format 9-1/2 x 12-1/4 inch heavily illustrated 56 page magazine.
The lead article is this issue features very heavy photo coverage of the German Wehrmacht participation in the assault on Poland. Many of the pictures are unqiue to this publication and are not found elsewhere.
A second large and timely article deals with the city of Danzig, and a third shows German cultural creations in the “Ostraum” (in the east).
The rare magazine also contains advertising for the best firms and products in Vienna from the Femina nightclub to the Hotel Winzer on Mariahilferstrasse.
