This is book number 4 in a set of seven consecutive volumes of spectacular 6-3/4 x 9-3/4 inch, 488-page very heavily illustrated grey linen half-leather bound hardcover books that officially document the history of the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler. ,,Das Dritte Reich’’ (The Third Reich) was written by Gerd Rühle and published each year in the 1930s by Hummelverlag of Berlin, Germany.

The set provides the most comprehensive documentation available of the important events and the day-by-day milestones of each year in the growth, stabilization and expansion of the political power of the Nazi Party in Germany. This huge book is the 4th volume in the set and covers events of the year 1936 only.

Authorized by the NSDAP, the text portion of this book covers virtually every aspect of the history and personalities of the Nazi Party in 1936. This book contains 488 pages and at the back there is a section of about 100 pages of archival photos, newspaper reproductions, portraits, and ephemera that is simply unavailable elsewhere.

The replica of the Völkischer Beobachter Nazi newspaper fold out to a size of about 9-1/2 x 12 inches, and the map of the Berlin Olympic Grounds measures 9-1/2 x 18 inches. There are pages and pages of rare photos of early Nazi Party posters, full-color Nazi flags, standards and medals, anti-Semitic boycott material, Konzentrationslager (Concentration Camps), accusations of German atrocities, Reichsparteitag (State Party Days), Zeppelins, the Ordensburg Schools, the new Reichsautobahn, Winterhilfswerk (WHW), the Olympics in Berlin and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, portraits of dozens of Nazi Party, SS and military leaders, electioneering and of course, more political victory.

... the military on parade, the Ordensburgen at Sonthofen, Crössinsee and Vogelsang, the Kriegsmarine memorial at Laboe, battleship Deutschland, Admiral Scherer, Olympic Stadium, concentration camps, mentally defective people, military maneuvers, and the house in Davos in which Wilhelm Gustloff was murdered by a Jew named Frankfurter.

Books from this set are fundamental to any study of the subjects of Nazism, Hitler, the Third Reich and its personalities, Nazi medals, orders and decorations, Nazi Party advertising and propaganda, early Reichs Party Days, etc., etc. The text and photos in these books are simply not available elsewhere. The books in this set are very difficult to find and are virtually never encountered as a full set.

A lot of advanced World War II German militaria collectors are not aware of the existence of this set of books and of those that do know of it, many have never owned a single volume. It is that scarce!

This rare 1936 volume is in very good condition and is in the most expensive binding available. The binding is grey linen with a dark brown spine and corners. It features gold blocking on the spine.
