NAZI FALLSCHIRMJÄGER PHOTO ALBUM

Nazi paratroopers
A SPECTACULAR 275+ PHOTO GERMAN LUFTWAFFE
FALLSCHIRMJAEGER KRIEGSERINNERUNGEN
ALBUM
Nazi paratrooper equipment
Nazi eagle and swastika
This is a wonderful 48 page Kriegserinnerungen or war memories photograph album recounting the service of a German Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger or paratrooper, from his basic training to his encounters with gypsies, his motorcycle ride through the Balkans, airdrop of Kreta (Crete), practice jumps, funerals of his comrades and his triumphant return home to Germany.
Gypsies in Hungary
The photographs show all manner of Nazi paratrooper equipment from musical instruments to a Kubelwagen, the tan uniform with short pants, the field gray uniform, helmet and jump smock. There are great photos that show parachutes, pack horses, jerricans, ships, tropical helmets, jump helmets, cooks, tents, medal award ceremonies, encampments, Junkers paratrooper aircraft, washing German motorcycles in the sea, military vehicles, graves of the dead, bridging equipment, nude gypsy women, burying the dead, wounded paratroopers, etc., etc.
Among the most interesting of the photos in the 9-3/4 x 14 inch Nazi album are the USMC style “junk on the bunk” type photos (shown above) shot by this paratrooper showing all his Fallschirmjager gear and equipment laid out on canvas IN TWO VIEWS!
Nazi motorcycles
Nazi Fallschirmjaeger
The equipment includes a paratrooper helmet and goggles, lace-up jump boots, gloves, high-top shoes, jump smock, bayonet, ammo pouches, socks, underwear, cap, raincoat, shelter half, pack, spoon, canteen, bread bag, etc. A perfect example for outfitting a German paratrooper.
Junkers
Other photographs show this Nazi paratrooper’s unit boarding a train with all its equipment for a trip to Hungary. There they unloaded their vehicles and equipment for the trip south. En route they encountered gypsies and for some reason made the women remove their blouses. The roads were primitive and in many cases bridges did not exist. They had to be made. Exhausted, men of the outfit slept on their motorcycles.
Following combat, many of the men were decorated for the heroism. There are pictures of men visiting wounded comrades, on R & R in Athens and back at their base camp exercising their parachutes. Finally, they board a train for the trip home. With their equipment on German soil once more, the unit is greeted with an emotional homecoming.

Nazi medals
Based on grave markers in the photos, we are guessing that these pictures most likely show men of the 8. Fallschirmjäger Regiment 2, probably composed in part of men from the Steiermark.
Nazi graves
In the back of the book in a plastic sleeve are two postcards, five loose photos and half of a funeral service brochure with the picture of the man who owned this book, showing him as ,,gefallen 27 Dezember 1944’’, no doubt in the Battle of the Bulge. The half that would have identified the man is not there. Glued inside the front cover of the album is a savings account number card for a bank account in Berlin, probably from the man’s days in paratrooper school.
Fallschirmjäger kommen von Kreta The superbly shot photos in this album are vastly superior to those in most German soldier photo albums in both their content and their quality. NONE of the photos has been removed, none are held by corners, but all are pasted directly on the album pages. A few have captions, none are commercial photographs.

If you are a qualified potential buyer for this album and have an interest in some specific shot, let us know and we will have a look and try to e-mail it to you. This is an exceptional German war memory album in very good condition.
