This is the real thing, not some post-war fake, and it is in wonderful original condition. It came directly from the wife of the veteran who brought it back in a small assortment of things he picked up in Germany during World War 2. it has never before been in the hands of a militaria dealer or collector.
It is what most collectors would describe as a late-war piece in that it is made of white metal in two pieces, the eagle and swastika being attached to the top of the oak leaf wreath. The back is marked with the circle W logo of Hermann Wernstein of Jena-Lobstedt.
The pinback and its catch are of a rather complex type and in wonderful condition as you can see from our excellent photographs. The surface on both sides has exactly the proper aging and patina. A great example of a genuine Luftwaffe Flakabzeichen!
