VERY RARE!
The newspapers published by the Wehrmacht Propagandakompanie and read by combat Landsers on the West Front and the East Front are extremely rare today specifically because they were read and then used for other purposes at the front. Few survived.

In this lot we offer two very historic hardbound Third Reich books, the first one containing 14 issues of ,,Der Sieg - Zeitung des deutschen Frontkämpfers’’ (The Victory - Newspaper of German Combat Troops) dated between 9 June 1940 and 21 July 1940.

The entire campaign of the German conquest of France is covered in articles, features and photographs in a detailed manner that no postwar book can come close to approaching.
Sieg - Wehrmacht equipment
The new Knight’s Cross winners are reported as is the British bombing of a German Army Hospital. There are pictures of captured Jews and African Negroes in French uniforms, captured weapons, German soldiers and weapons, destroyed towns, etc.

Articles explain why the Waffen-SS and other German units were the “Best Soldiers in the World”, announced the “Awarding of the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross to Reichsmarschall Göring”, cover the “Parading of Victorious Military Units from Berlin through the Brandenburg Gate”, etc., etc. There are about 60 pages measuring approximately 11 x 16 inches.
Nazi paper - Wacht im Osten
The second very historic hardbound volume contains 19 issues of similar German combat newspapers called ,,Ost Front’’ (Eastern Front) and ,,Wacht im Osten’’ (On Guard in the East). These papers measure about 12 x 18 inches, are dated between April 1941 and April 1942 and are composed of about 80 pages.

Quite naturally, they contain all sorts of news, cartoons and maps of specific interest to German troops in the field on the Eastern Front.

Of special interest are the issues of 3 August and 7 August of 1941 which report what Hitler had to say about German victories at Kiev and announce the Spanish commitment of troops to the Waffen-SS.

The headline of the issue of 7 August reports German “Victory in the East” and announces the capture of 895,000 enemy prisoners, 13,145 Russian tanks and over 10,000 field guns.

These books of actual World War II German combat newspapers are Third Reich historic rarities of the finest kind. They would be of absolutely immense value to anyone researching any aspect of life in the Wehrmacht, German newspapers, the East Front, the West Front, etc.
The newspapers in these custom-bound books are in good to very good condition.

They were bound during World War II and were recently discovered in a retail shop in a large German city.
