The Nazi paramilitary Hitlerjugend (HJ or Hitler Youth) was thoroughly trained in defensive measures to be taken in case of attack during wartime. Members were regularly trained in the use of the gas mask as shown in the accompanying photo.

The unused gas mask we offer here is a brand new old stock RL1-39/86 Vertriebgemäß § Luftschutzgesetz genehmigt olive-drab rubber gas mask, complete with its 5 inch diameter 1-1/2 inch thick screw-on aluminum filter.

It is still packed in the box it came in 60+ years ago.

Both the rubber gas mask and the filter are heavily marked with Waffenamt and Reichsluftschutzbund acceptance stamps.

The rubber in the mask and the fabric in the straps is very supple and feels as if it was made yesterday. The glass lenses are in excellent original condition as is the box.
