Ice Climbers for Waffen-SS Gebirgs units

This is a superb pair of old iron Steigeisen (Step Irons) or ice climbers that once attached to the bottoms of Bergschuhe or Mountain Boots of a mountaineer in one of the Wehrmacht or Waffen-SS Gebirgs units.

They are size 3 (fit about an American size 9 boot), hand forged from iron and are complete with all the original straps, rings and buckles, in virtually unworn condition. The top of the front portion of each Steigeisen is stamped with the maker’s name WERK FULPMES. Each has a formed steel loop attached to the back that fits in the groove in the heel of a mountain boot. The heel and toe brackets are about 3-3/8 inches wide inside and the steel pieces measures about 11 inches long overall.
