| This is a marvelously illustrated set of 30 very clever cartoons accompanied by humorous poems that perfectly recap the experiences of a Tirolean Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Trooper) named Toni in the Nazi Wehrmacht during World War II. |

| The 6 x 9 inch, 64 page, very heavily illustrated softcover book is called ,,Jager Toni reist quer durch Europa’’ (Rifleman Toni Makes a Zig-Zag Tour Through Europe). It was written and illustrated by Detlev Mahnert and Karl Pasterk and published by National Socialist Gau Verlag Tirol-Vorlarlberg GmbH in Innsbruck, Germany (now Austria) in 1941. |

| Toni’s adventures took him to the Russian Front, above the Arctic Circle, aboard ship and to the Mediterranean. He guarded British prisoners, had a sauna, was welcomed in Bulgaria, romanced the girls, drank too much, gave orders to black French prisoners and took good care of his “Esel”. |
