| This is a splendid 3-1/4 x 4-7/8 inch Aufenthaltsbescheinigung für Gross-Paris (Leave Pass for Greater Paris) number L 534,713 dated 1 July 1944 granting leave to Major Karl Wapler who had Soldbuch number 1 at Feldpost number L 20 736. Waplers pass shows that he was not obliged to any curfew and that he would be staying at the Hotel Louvre in the heart of the City of Lights.
Obvious by his Soldbuch number, Wapler was the commander of his outfit and managed to get in his Paris leave or leaves (the pass was good through 31 October 1944) before the Americans marched through the city on 25 August. |
