The 9-3/8 x 12-1/2 inch, 40 page publication contains the text of speeches given by Heydrich on the occasion of the 1941 Day of German Police, and when he took over as Deputy Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia, as well as funeral eulogies by Reichsleiter Martin Bormann, SS-Oberst-Gruppenführer Daluege, Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, and Adolf Hitler's words in the Mosaic Hall in the Reichschancellery on 9 June 1942, praising Reinhard Heydrich as "one of the best National Socialists …. one of the biggest opponents of enemies of the Reich". Hitler awarded Heydrich the highest level of the German Order (the highest medal awarded in Germany during the Third Reich), der Deutsche Orden mit Lorbeerkranz und Schwertern (shown right without the wreath and swords for reference only).

This is a 100% original example of the Gedenkheft or memorial book published in honor of the funeral of 38 year old Reinhard Heydrich, Chefs des Reichssicherheitshauptamt und stellvertretenden Reichsprotektors von Böhmen und Mähren (Head of the Reich Main Security Office and Deputy Reichsprotector of Bohemia and Moravia) who died in Prague on 4 June 1942 as a result of sepsis after an assassination attempt by Czech commandos on 27 May 1942.

The very limited edition black-covered commemorative SS book was published by the Ahnenerbestiftung in Berlin by order of the Reichssicherheitshauptamt.

The first full-page photo in this rare original SS publication is the official portrait of SS-General Heydrich by Friedrich Franz Bauer. Other photos show SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich at Hradcany Castle in Prague, Heydrich's office in the Reichssicherheitshauptamt in Berlin, as well as his death mask by Professor Franz Rotter.

This is a very nice example of the 74 year old SS / Heydrich memorial book. It is complete. There is no writing in it, it has no offensive odor, and the striking black covers shows only minor wear. A small portion of the lower right corner of the front cover was repaired at one time by a previous owner.

The December 1943 presentation letter by SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Polizei Kaltenbrunner is 100% original as well, in perfect original condition on fancy paper, and adds tremendous value to this historic Heydrich Gedenkheft.
