VERY RARE
SS BOOKLET WRITTEN BY SS GENERAL REINHARD HEYDRICH |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Anyone interested in mid 20th century European military history knows that Reinhard Eugen Tristan Heydrich was foremost among loyal and efficient SS administrators in the Third Reich government of Adolf Hitler. Outside of his administrative role, Heydrich was a fierce and relentless combatant. From relative obscurity as a German Naval Intelligence Officer, Heydrich rose through the ranks of the Allgemeine SS to General, and virtually built the German Sicherheitsdienst (SD) or Secret Service. When war came he took pilot lessons privately and then volunteered as a Captain in the Luftwaffe, where he flew combat missions until ordered to stop by Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler. Heydrich shunned publicity and almost never wrote for publication under his own name. One of the very few things Heydrich put his name to was a booklet for the series ,,AUS DEM SCHWARZEN KORPS which Himmler thought was very important. The booklet in question measures approximately 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 inches and contains 20 pages. The front and back covers clearly identify it as an important SS publication. The booklet is entitled ,,Wandlungen unseres Kampfes or The Metamorphosis of Our Battle and it explains in Heydrichs own words how it would be necessary for SS personnel to alter their thinking to accommodate an ever changing battle. New challenges in that battle according to Heydrich, were things like the Misuse of Churches, the rooting out of Zionists but especially assimilated Jews, the Camouflaged Opponent, etc. Heydrich had no reason to mince his words and wrote directly to the problems the SS faced as he understood them. He was a SS General and the Chief of the Security Service Head Office (RSHA) of the Reichsführer-SS when he wrote this booklet in 1935. |

| This specific example of Reinhard Heydrichs booklet is also rare and extremely interesting from a second perspective. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The label near the bottom corner of the spine and two red imprints (one on the back of the title page and one on the last page) clearly identify this booklet as property of the library of the Rasse= und Siedlungs Hauptamt = SS Archiv or Race and Settlement Main Office - SS Archive in Berlin, of which the Lebensborn eV. was a part.
Very, very rare and historic SS material of the sort that almost never comes up for sale. Good condition. |
