THE SS MEMORIAL BOOKLET FOR
THE SS LEADERSHIP PILGRIMAGE TO THE TOMB OF KING HEINRICH IN THE CATHEDRAL AT QUEDLINBURG ON 2 JULY 1936 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is a wonderful original example of the extremely rare 6-5/8 x 9-3/8 inch very well illustrated 20 page booklet ,,Rede des Reichsführer-SS im Dom zu Quedlinburg or The Speech of the Reichsführer of the SS in the Cathedral of Quedlinburg as published by the SS publishing house, Nordland Verlag in Berlin, Germany in 1936. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The rarely seen booklet begins with a full-page photograph of very high ranking Nazi dignitaries from the Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler to Dr. Robert Ley and Reichsleiter Martin Bormann, heads uncovered, standing before the open doors to the tomb of König Heinrich I in Quedlinburg cathedral on 2 July 1936. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Guest of Reichsführer-SS Himmler, the leadership in the NSDAP came to Quedlinburg as representatives of the German People. A foreword written by SS-Standartenführer Gunter dAlquen explains both the history of the great king who ruled from 919 to 936, and the purpose of the trip as well. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The silver front cover features a lifelike metallic picture of the badge issued for the event. The text of the booklet is a word-by-word dictation of the speech delivered by Heinrich Himmler that day at the tomb of his namesake, King Heinrich I.
Among other things Himmler explained that German Führer and Reichschancellor Adolf Hitler was the earthly inheritor of the human and political spirit of the long-dead king. This visit to Quedlinburg and the speech by Himmler went on to have a huge and lasting impact on the Nazi Party in general and on the SS in particular. A good deal of the mysticism that permeated certain aspects of the SS (such as the Order Castle at Wewelsburg) has its origins in Himmlers study of the history of King Heinrich I and his times. |

This very rare booklet is the companion piece to the equally rare SS Quedlinburg Heinrich day badge or tinnie depicting Heinrich, the SS cathedral at Quedlinburg and SS runes in a circle. Virtually impossible to find.
