NAZI HITLER PAINTING BIRTHDAY WISHES

During the Third Reich the Nazi Party made every effort to retrieve as many of the approximately 1000 paintings that Chancellor Adolf Hitler had made and sold or given away between 1907 and 1918. A great many were recovered and it was hoped that they would find a permanent home in a museum specially built for them in Linz some day.

As the paintings were recovered, a few of the best of them were published for the first time for general consumption by a grateful and adoring German public.

The two original Third Reich reproductions of Hitler paintings which we offer here were printed in full-color on fancy art paper and tipped onto larger sheets of heavy stock. Klosterruine von Messines was covered with a semi-transparent flap with historical information about the subject of the painting. It was sold in this form to be used as birthday greeting card that could be sent to a friend. The sheet measures 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 inch and the reproduction of the Hitler watercolor measures 5-1/4 x 5-3/4 inch.

The second print is tipped onto a die-cut sheet that is folded as a mat for the picture. The folded sheet measures about 8 x 11 inches and the Third Reich reproduction of the Hitler watercolor of Unterstand in Fournes measures 5-3/4 x 7-3/4 inch.
