This is a fine example of the big 10 x 12 inch, 136 page very, very heavily illustrated First Edition of the book Strassen und Bauten Adolf Hitlers (Adolf Hitler’s Roads and Buildings) by Georg Fritz with an introduction by Dr. Fritz Todt, General Inspector for the German Highway System. It was published by Verlag der deutschen Arbeitsfront GmbH in Berlin, Germany in 1938.

This extremely rare book includes multi-page forewords in Italian and English as well as in German. The captions for the superb illustrations by Georg Fritz are in German, Italian and English as well.

Using his unique style, Fritz beautifully rendered the Reichsautobahn system, its bridges and thoroughfares and important buildings by the side of the road. He depicted the Reichsautobahn under construction and finished. He drew the Ordensburg Vogelsang, the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, the Nazi Party Day Grounds (Reichsparteitaggelände) in Nürnberg, the Braunes Haus, the Führerbau and Ehrentempel on the Königsplatz in Munich, the House of German Art and Nazi monuments along the Autobahn.

Each Georg Fritz picture is highly realistic and at the same time has a dream-like quality about it. No one illustrated the Reichsautobahn better and this rare book is an important addition to the library of any one interested in the German freeway system or architecture in Nazi Germany.
