The JB or Illustrierter Beobachter was the Nazi Party weekly photo newspaper published in München (Munich) by Verlag Franz Eher Nachfolger, but read by just about everybody, all over Germany. Each 10 x 14 inch issue contained about 10-14 pages of the very latest news, photographs and information gathered from around the world including plenty from the United States and England.

The excellent paper was published every Thursday and sold for only 20 Reichspfennigs, the equivalent of 12 US cents. The issues offered here are all the issues for the extremely historic year of 1942 (1 January through 28 December) in a big, heavy hard cover book-like binding. Because they were bound like a hard cover book all the issues are still in excellent condition.

Naturally, Nazi Party Führer and German Chancellor Adolf Hitler is prominently featured in virtually every issue, seen in his role as leader of the government, but also in the field with the men of the Wehrmacht in his role as Chief of the Armed Forces.

The other prominent Nazis are there too, from Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Reichsminister Hermann Göring, Joachim von Ribbentrop, Baldur von Schirach, Fritz Todt, Il Duce Benito Mussolini, etc.   These issues of the Illustrierter Beobachter also contain many anti-Semitic articles and cartoons as well as sport news and timely jokes.

There are features on German movie stars, royalty and on foreign military strongmen. Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler is shown visiting SS troops in Finland (a million dollars worth of SS uniform in the photos!), the introduction of the Infantry Combat Badge is shown, the laying of Hitler's wreath at the funeral of an engineer at Mercedes-Benz, the Fieseler Storch aircraft, Technische Nothilfe (TeNo) at work in the east, Dr. Todt remembered, Jewish artists, Hirsch, Einstein and Salomon, aircraft carriers, aboard a German U-Boot, four German Panzers attack a British Division, aircraft in winter, Erwin Rommel and the Deutsche Afrikakorps, the funeral of Generalfeldmarschall von Reichenau, the fall of Singapore, a huge two-page spread of unique photos of the Berlin funeral of SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich, the English catastrophe at Dieppe, Mussolini's office in Rome, Allied prisoners at Tobruk, the funeral of NSKK Korpsführer Adolf Hühnlein, uniformed Norwegian nurses on the east front, the Battle of Charkow, Reichskommissariat Ostland, Hollywood Jews, Mussolini at Salzburg, Hitler's birthday at the Führerhauptquartier, RFSS Himmler visiting a SS Division in Serbia, Hitler Youth - Soldiers of Tomorrow, war on the east front and Africa, Hitler presents Rommel the Field Marshal baton, etc. Remarkable combat cover photos.
