This is a nice 48 page, 9 x 12-3/4 inch Kriegs-Erinnerungen or Remembrances of War photograph album that documents the Third Reich experiences of a young man, first in the Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD or State Labor Service) and then as a Matrose (sailor) in the Kriegsmarine or German Navy. There is a 1-3/4 x 3 inch metal Nazi helmet with an eagle and swastika shield on the side on the front cover of the album. |

| The first 11 pages cover the owner’s experiences in the RAD with about 30 pictures including a very nice one showing three high ranking RAD leaders in uniform (shown left). |

| While in the RAD he acquired a set of 15 castle photos (probably in the area where he was stationed) and put them in the album. They are real photographic prints. |

| The rest of the album is navy related with portraits as large as 3-3/4 x 5-1/2 inches and smaller snapshots. About 150 of the photos are naval subjects like ships of all classes from the largest to U-Boots, many sailor buddies in all sorts of uniforms, officers, life aboard ship, barrage balloons, harbors, huge propellors, views of the afterdeck with the Reichskriegsflag flying, animal mascots, etc. |

| Because the sailor visited the most naval monument in all of Germany at Laboe, he purchased a set of photo cards (real photos) there and put them in the album. When war broke out on 1939, this sailor must have been in the liberation of Danzig and the elimination of the Polish Corridor. The album contains a very rare set of 44 real photographic prints of Danzig being reunified with the rest of the Großdeutsches Reich. |

| The photos include some of Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, Gauleiter Forster opening work on the Danzig-Berlin Reichsautobahn, Polish prisoners-of-war, SS-Heimwehr and SA border guards, SS armored vehicles, the warship “Schleswig-Holstein” steaming into Danzig harbor, Admiral Raeder, victorious Nazi army and naval ground troops, etc. |
