MARTIN BORMANN SIGNED DOCUMENT

Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP)
AN AUTHENTIC LETTER TO GAULEITER JOSEF BÜRCKEL SIGNED IN INK BY STABSLEITER MARTIN BORMANN AT THE BRAUNES HAUS IN MÜNCHEN
Certainly one of the most feared and powerful men in the Nazi government of Adolf Hitler was Martin Bormann, who by the end of the war was second only to the Führer in terms of political power. An early member of the NSDAP he became a Reichsleiter in October 1933. A month later he was elected a National Socialist delegate to the Reichstag. From 1933 to 1941 Bormann was the Chief of Cabinet in the Office of the Deputy Führer, Rudolf Hess, acting as his personal secretary. It was in that position that Bormann wrote and signed the letter we offer here. Stabsleiter Martin Bormann

Bormann to Bürckel
This A4 size letter dated 1 June 1938 was written to Gauleiter Josef Bürckel, Kommissar for the Reunification of Austria with the Reich in Wien (Vienna), Germany. In the letter Bormann asks that Bürckel do whatever is necessary to see to it that there is a room for the Hungarian National Socialist Party in the “Braunes Haus” in Vienna. He goes on to explain that Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler and the Foreign Office feel that this is an extremely important request on political grounds, and even explains to Bürckel what the sign on the door should say (in Hungarian and German).

In the last paragraph Bormann asks Bürckel to let him know about progress on this request so that Bormann can keep the Auswärtiges Amt or Foreign Office informed.

Martin Bormann letter
At the end of World War II and for many years afterward, no one was sure what had become of Bormann. Many believed that he had escaped from Berlin at the last moment and was hiding somewhere in South America.

One thing is absolutely certain: all documents signed by Reichsleiter Martin Bormann are very rare. This one is on the stationary of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP) with an eagle and swastika embossed at the top. It is stamped with the receiving stamp of the Reichskommissar dated 13 June 1938 and bears an excellent 3 inch fountain pen signature of Bormann in medium blue ink.

Very good condition, from the collection of authors Ray & Josephine Cowdery. Comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.
