This is the only example we have seen in many, many years of the rare 8-1/2 x 11 inch, 48 page heavily illustrated soft cover book THE BLOODY RECORD OF NAZI ATROCITIES as edited by Joe Weil and published by Arco Publishing Co. of New York, New York in 1944.
The book is divided in two sections:
THE CRIMES by Burnet Hershey and
THE PUNISHMENT by Johannes Steel and is “Illustrated with Authentic Photographs and Sketches drawn by artists from “eye-witness” descriptions.”

This is a book that was sold on American newsstands during World War II and was probably considered to be the most brutal and up to date information about circumstances in Nazi concentration camps then available outside of Nazi Germany. Most of the photos are from the SOVFOTO Soviet Press Service and the illustrations are by renowned artist A.M. Froehlich according to eyewitness descriptions as mentioned above. The data is attributed to the World Almanac, the World Jewish Congress, and others.
Probably because of the graphic nature of the pictures and illustrations, few of these books survived into the 21st century, but this example is important simply because it does show the level of information available in America and the type of information being published in English while Hitler and the Nazis were still in power and the war was still going on in Europe.
