Because of huge advances in the aviation industry in Germany under the National Socialists a decision was made in the spring of 1938 to publish an annual guidebook that would showcase the amazing advances in German aviation, aircraft, aircraft engines, sailplanes and aircraft components. This is the second such book published in Nazi Germany, this one in the fall of 1939.
The 10-1/2 x 14 inch, 168 page very heavily illustrated guidebook of the firms that were members of the Reichsverband der deutschen Luftfahrtindustrie (National Association of the German Aviation Industry) was published by Wiking Verlag in Berlin.
The content of the book is separated by a series of beautiful wash illustrations by K.J. Blisch depicting major events in the history of German aviation. While those are beautiful, the real beauty of this book 70 years later is the photographic content and copious text which leaves no doubt whatsoever about the success of aviation in Nazi Germany.
There are component, manufacturing and finished product photographs of companies like Ago, Arado, Messerschmitt, Blohm & Voß, Bücker, Dornier, Erla, Fieseler, Focke-Wulf, Focke-Achgelis, Gothaer, Ernst Heinkel, Siebel, Klemm, Henschel, IG Farbenindustrie, Junkers, Telefunken, Siemens, Daimler-Benz, BMW, Bramo, Hirth, Schwarzwald, Schweyer, Schempp-Hirth, Schneider, Autoflug, Bosch, Askania, DBU, Drägerwerk, Deuta-Werke, Eberspächer, Elektron, Eckardt, Heine, C.
