This is quite a nice Third Reich era retail beer sign for Münchener Hofbräu that measures about 6-3/8 x 18-5/8 inches. The deeply embossed HB crown logo and the words Münchener Hofbräu stand out beautifuly from the white background of the face of the chip board sign. The sign has its original hanging string and the back is dated 13.09.1939. In small letters embossed below the O and F of Hofbräu on the front of the sign is the name of the manufacturer of this sign, WILM FALK & CO DRESDEN. A rare piece of authentic period advertising material in nice used condition.
For anyone who does not know, Münchener Hofbräu was the company that owned the enormous Hofbräuhaus beerhall in central Munich where Hitler and the NSDAP came to fame. See period photo left.
