This is a very good example of the rare 1938 Nazi board game Reichsautobahn im Bau (German State Freeway under Construction) as manufactured by Otto Maier Verlag of Ravensburg. It is their game number 5554.
The colorful 20 x 26 inch heavy chipboard game board folds down to about 10 x 13 inches to fit into the 1-1/4 x 11 x 15-1/4 inch box. The game board shows a map of Germany as it existed after spring of 1938 but before the fall of 1938, with the Autobahn or German freeway segments then under construction in various colors. There are two wooden dice with the game - one a normal die with numbers and the other with sides in the color of traffic lights.
Complete instructions for playing the game with two to five players are printed inside the lid of the box. We have not counted the many small colored game pieces that fit on the board but the condition is so good that we doubt they were ever used. Some wear to the exterior of the box, otherwise in very good condition
