This is a superb Third Reich full-color book: the best of all the color books published during the war and dealing with the Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht in combat.
These are NOT the same old images cropped a little differently! They are color images that appear almost nowhere else but in this book.
Zeitgeschehen in Farben (The Recent Past in Color) Das Farbfoto als Dokument vom Freiheitskampf unseres Volkes (The Color Photo as Documentation of the Freedom Fight of our People) is a rare 7 x 9-1/2 inch, 144 page, very heavily illustrated hard cover book by Eduard Amphlett as published by Max Beck Verlag in Leipzig in 1943. This edition has an extra 8 pages with Roman numeral page numbers interspersed throughout the text. They are noted in the index.
The book contains excellent color photographs of Adolf Hitler and his generals, Fallschirmjäger or paratroopers, Hermann Göring wearing his Grand Cross of the Knights Cross, Erwin Rommel, tanks, submarines, flame throwers, Stukas, a front theater, motorcycles, halftracks, passenger pigeons, Japanese generals, artillery and all sorts of German Landsers and Waffen-SS soldiers in the field.
Between some of the photographs there is a competent history of the German reporting of military campaigns by war correspondents from the first woodcut in the 1500s to the Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht color photographs of the Third Reich.
A very rare book, very difficult to find, in good+ condition. It would be very good except for some staining to the tops of the first 8 pages which are the index. While light staining continues to the very top of about 20 pages IT DOES NOT IMPACT THE ULTRA RARE PHOTOGRAPHS CONTAINED IN THIS BOOK.

We bought this book in Germany and have no idea what happened to it. Somehow the cover must have been damaged because it has been professionally rebound using the front panel of the original front cover on the front of the excellent replacement hard covers.
