In the Rathaus or City Hall of every medium and large size German city or town during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler, there was an office of the Standesbeamte or Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

The sign we offer here is an absolutely authentic three-color Nazi sign stamped from aluminum and measuring about 9-3/4 x 11-5/8 inches. It was made for indoor or outdoor use and has mounting holes in each corner and three tiny holes in the face of the sign. The sign is pressed from medium-weight aluminium with the edge rolled to the back. The lettering beneath the eagle says Standesbeamter or Registrars.

The sign we offer here is an absolutely authentic three-color nazi sign on masonite-like material measuring about 12-3/4 x 15-1/4 inches. it was made for indoor use and has mounting holes in each corner and two bullet holes of about .30 caliber / 9 mm size clearly punched through it at the 8 and 12 o’clock positions.

The sign is beautifully made with a greyish-green backside and brilliant red, white and black colors on the front. The white color has yellowed over the years to cream color. The huge 10-3/4 inch eagle clutching the swastika could not be bolder or more fierce looking, and truthfully, the bullet holes do not detract in any way from this striking Nazi sign. The lettering at the bottom says Der Standesbeamte. (The Registrar).

The picture above shows the pages from the 1942 Reichsgesetzblatt (State Law Journal) mandating this sort of indoor sign.

We purchased this sign in 2005 in a barn in southeastern Germany.
