USM book #295
|
This is a very rare Nazi book - the Feldpost edition of the 4-1/6 x 6-3/4 inch, 48 page very heavily illustrated book Englands Räuberhand (the Thieving Hand of England or the Predatory Hand of England) as published in 1940 for the frontline newspaper Wacht im Westen by Bildgut Verlag in Essen.
The book is illustrated with poignant line drawings by Rudi vom Endt and explains to German soldiers how the country of England acquired the many territories they possessed at the time throughout the world. It begins with Sir Francis Drake and follows the search for gold and possessions in South Africa as well. Much is made of the English use of concentration camps in their war in South Africa in 1899.
A good deal of the book dwells on the British treatment of the people and country of Ireland. Other issues covered are the British embargo of Europe and the British acquisition of Gibraltar.
The spine of this rare book has been scotch taped, but it is otherwise complete and in good used condition.
