A SUPERB DRESS UNIFORM HORN WHISTLE ON A
SILVER LANYARD FOR A FORESTER OR GAME WARDEN

This is a wonderful example of a horn whistle and spun metal lanyard to be worn on a full dress uniform of a Third Reich Master Forester or Game Warden. It consists of a large 13/16 inch (20 mm) diameter by 2-9/16 inch (65 mm) long beautifully handcrafted animal horn whistle attached to a 16 inch (40 cm) long handmade braided lanyard of silver metallic thread splendidly finished with two large acorns.

This rare Nazi uniform accessory is superbly crafted and in very fine condition.

NAZI HUNTING EXHIBITION BERLIN BROCHURE 1937

This is a very good example of the rare show brochure and guidebook of the Internationale Jagdausstellung (International Hunting Exhibition) that took place from 2 - 21 November 1937 in Berlin, Germany. The 8 x 8 inch, very heavily illustrated 32 page softcover booklet covers the biggest hunting exhibition ever held in Europe, maybe in the world.

The Internationale Jagdausstellung was the brainchild of Reichsforstmeister and Reichsjägermeister, Ministerpräsident, Generaloberst Hermann Göring, Head of German Civil Aviation, Head of the Luftwaffe, Chief of the Four Year Plan, etc., etc. It was produced under the auspices of the Reichsbund deutsche Jägerschaft (German State Hunting Association) and held in the enormous exhibition halls at the Funkturm just off Adolf Hitler Platz in Berlin.

The exhibition occupied most of the month of November of 1937 and covered every aspect of hunting from the history of it to dogs, to weapons, trophy animals, photographing animals, etc. Everyone that was anyone in the Nazi Party sponsored a trophy for the exhibition, including Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, Hjalmar Schacht, Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, Lutze, Darré, Von Neurath, etc.

There were special exhibitions for principal game reserves in Germany such as Rominten, Schorfheide, Reinhardswald, Eifel, etc., and exhibition featuring hunting in European countries as well as in Japan, Canada, Egypt, England, etc. Special exhibition halls were set aside for weapons, optical equipment and ammunition for hunting.

The booklet begins with a three language (German, English and French) 4-page insert that explains how to get to Berlin by rail and air, passport regulations for Nazi Germany, accommodations, and how to get to the International Hunting Exhibition. That is followed by a full-page portrait of Hermann Göring, photos of wild game, trophies, the distribution of wild game in Germany, information about falconry and sporting dogs, a map of the exhibition grounds and even the musical notes to the “Call to the Hunt”. The entire guide to the exhibition is printed in German, English and French while captions on the photo pages are in German only.

A very rare brochure, complete and in good used condition. Some pages are stained but they are largely the blank pages at the front and at the back.

This is a big, beautiful and unusual book measuring 10 x 12-3/4 inch, containing 76 pages of German Jagdmadrigale or German hunting songs. It is Volume III from the Denkmäler deutscher Jagdkultur called Jagdmadrigale (Pastoral Hunting Songs) collected by Carl Clewing and published by Verlag J. Neumann of Neudamm together with Bärenreiter Verlag in Kassel, Germany in 1938.

The words and music to these beautiful old songs were published in this handsome, rare book following an introduction by Nazi State Hunting Master Hermann Göring, who thought the new generation of hunters in Germany should be familiar with them. Very good condition.
