| This is a terrific 1939/1940 Third Reich map showing the countries of Finland, Norway, Sweden, England, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Northern France. The map includes everything between the arctic circle and Zürich, Switzerland and from Budapest to Iceland. It naturally includes the D-Day beaches in Normandy, the parachute drop areas in Holland and the entire area of the Battle of the Bulge. The areas shown as red lines or spots on this map are fortresses such as Eben Emael and the Maginot Line. | ||||||||||||||||||
| For anyone studying military or political aspects of Third Reich Germany and / or World War II in western Europe, this is a perfect map. It is not so large that it can not be mounted or framed and hung on the wall of a reasonable sized room. It is the big 27 x 39 inch, multicolor Bibliografisches Institut AG Schlag Nach map of The North Sea Countries in a scale of 1 to 3,200,000 as published for the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW) Department of Domestic Maps in Berlin in 1939. It is one of a series of Tornisterschrift or Backpack Maps for use only inside the Wehrmacht or Armed Forces. The map is complete with the very rare 4-3/4 x 7 inch, 24 page softcover booklet giving all possible interpretive data for the countries covered by the map. |
