All Nazi era German road maps are rare today but the rarest of them are the V.B. (Völkischer Beobachter) Strassenkarte 1:200,000 scale maps published by the Central Publishing House of the NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachfolger of München and Berlin. These were the ONLY maps printed in Nazi Germany to bear the likeness of Chancellor Adolf Hitler on the back panel!
Of those rare road maps, the hardest to find these days are numbers 2 and 26 depicting the sreas around Munich, the Capital of the Nazi Movement (maps 2) and the area around Berlin, Capital City of Greater Germany (map 26).
The big 23 x 20 inch (fold to 4-1/2 x 11-1/2 inches) full-color maps show the countryside in tiny detail where 1 cm (about half an inch) on the map is equal to 1 kilometer (2/3 of a mile) on land. These are part of a series of 38 maps published just before World War II, which sold for 90 Pfennigs (36 US cents) each.
THE BERLIN MAP covers that portion of Germany between Magdeburg and Teupitz, Martenwerder and Osterburg, including Sachsenhausen, Zossen, Zerbst, and of course the city and suburbs of Berlin. Very good condition.
THE MÜNCHEN MAP covers that portion of Germany between Ammersee and Innsbruck, from Zell am See to Burghausen to Fürstenfeldbruck, including Bad Tölz, Steinhöring, Berchtesgaden, the Obersalzberg, Salzburg, Königssee, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Chiemsee, etc.
