There is a very nice brass Wound Badge with a pointed pin and about 60% of the black paint remaining. The third piece is a beautiful Sturmabzeichen or General Assault Badge of the sort issued to non-infantry units like the Gebirgsjäger or Nazi Mountain Troops. This is a nickel or silver plated brass badge stamped from thin metal, and with a blunt ended pin on the back. It is beautifully made and beautiful to look at - very striking. Some brass shows through the silver plating.
The Nazi Todesanzeige or funeral announcement (referred to by many collectors as a 'Nazi death notice') measures 4-1/4 x 5 inches and folds once down the center. The front panel features a birch wood cross and a Nazi helmet on the grave of a dead soldier. The photo panel shows a Gebirgsjaeger above the name Sepp Hochbichler. Page 3 contains a recap of Obergefreiter Hochbichler's life and death beneath a small Iron Cross. It says he was Gruppenführer in a Gebirgsjäger Company, holder of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, the Silver Sturmabzeichen and the Wound Badge. He was the son of a guesthouse owner at Waidhofen bei Ybbs. He died on 22 August 1944 at age 21 from severe wounds received in the East. He was buried in the Heroes Cemetery at Tarnow, Generalgouvernement, with military honors.
A very nice grouping of authentic Nazi decorations with a face and history attached to them.
