| This is a fine example of the rare 8-1/4 x 11-5/8 inch, 106 page, very heavily illustrated German magazine ,,MOTOR, the second Auto Show issue, printed for the Berlin Auto Show in March 1938. The magazine is a treasure trove for those with an interest in any aspect of Third Reich German auto shows, automobiles, motorcycles, trucks, busses or parts for them. There is also considerable space devoted to the machines used to manufacture vehicles, service station equipment, tools, etc. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Big companies like Zeiss, Ford, Sachs, Zündapp, NSU, Krauss Maffei, Opel, Osram, Continental, SKF, Henschel, etc. were big advertisers but they were joined by hundreds of smaller automotive firms. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Hitler of course, opened this 5th annual Nazi Automobile und Motorrad Ausstellung and was extremely interested in its positive outcome. The entire Reichsautobahn system had been justified on the basis that the Nazis were going to motorize Germany, and they did. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The magazine has a feature on the latest in passenger cars, another on materials used in auto parts, the latest in wood-gas generators, headlights, horns, license plates, turn signals and radios. Bus and truck chassis and engines are thoroughly discussed and even the latest Berger camper trailers are shown. A separate article is devoted to the very latest in motorcycles and motorized bicycles.
One of the best of the hundreds of ads in this magazine is that for Karosserie Voll & Ruhrbeck, an automobile car body builder from Berlin-Charlottenburg (shown below) that depicts their newest and most elegant creation for a Mercedes-Benz chassis. |

| A lot of people think that this car was a creation of the car builders at the Mercedes-Benz factory. This advertisement proves it was not and gives credit right where it belongs - to Voll & Ruhrbeck.
Magazines such as this were not intended to be permanent and thus most were read and thrown away. Few survived. They are now very rare . Except for a few pages which at one time stuck together in a minor sort of way (spots of about 1/4 x 1/2 inch) the 68 year old magazine is complete and in good used condition. |
