This lot consists of eight issues of the now rare Third Reich 8-1/2 x 11-3/4 inch, 24 or so page heavily illustrated magazine DAS MOTORRAD (The Motorcycle) as published by Verlag Georg Koenig. The issues in this lot are those of 10 October 1936, 11 September 1937, 18 January 1941, 6 September 1941, 15 November 1941, 16 May 1942, 30 May 1942 and 13 June 1942. These magazines are all complete with the exception of 15 November 1942 which has no back cover. All are in used but perfectly readable condition.
Features of interest in these magazines are motorcycle lighting, racing at Hockenheim, the Polish Tourist Trophy, super chargers, a motorcycle sidecar for sleeping, motorcycle repairmen in the Wehrmacht, wheel hub motors, mass production, assault troops, NSKK Korpsführer Huhnlein at 60 years old, the Nimbus motorcycle [licensed for production by BMW), world-record streamlining, front springs, enclosed motorcycles, the Doppler Effect, NSKK men in construction handwork, the Benelli Sport 250, the Amal carburetor, electric powered motorcycles, the NSKK in Africa, air filters, parachuting motorcycles, and a monthly market for used motorcycles of all brands.
