Other news covered is Hitler’s speech to the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF or German Labor Front), new DAF announcements by DAF Reichsleiter Dr. Robert Ley, the midnight burning of “un-German” books at universities all over Germany that took place on 10 May (see below) , the continuing National-Socialist Revolution in Austria, speeches by Reichsminister Dr. Frick as well as an extensive report on the heroic action of the crew of the German merchant ship Phoebus that rescued crew members of the USS Akron (ZRS-4), a helium-filled rigid US Navy airship that was destroyed in a thunderstorm off the coast of New Jersey on the morning of 4 April 1933.
This original Friday 12 May 1933 example of Westdeutsches Grenzblatt was published in the German city of Aachen near the Dutch and Belgian border. It was the largest daily newspaper in this part of Nazi Germany. The 15 x 21 inch, 10-page official Nazi Party newspaper (Amtliches Organ der NSDAP) has articles on the front page about the corruption case against Dr. Anton Paul Brüning, director at the Görreshaus AG in Cologne, the company that published the anti-Hitler and anti-Nazi Party Kölnische Volkszeitung newspaper which had recently been forced to cease publication. Also covered is the dire financial situation of the SPD (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands or the Social Democratic Party of Germany), and the announcement that the new National Socialist government would start work on legislation against the misuse of the National Emblem (the Nazi eagle and swastika) and outlaw its use in “Kitsch” items containing those emblems, things such as souvenirs, toys and trinkets (below).
The UfA theater in Aachen was showing two new movies, including Brennendes Geheimnis ("The Burning Secret”based on Stefan Zweig's novella) starring famous actor Willi Forst.
Other advertising in this Nazi newspaper is for health resorts, hotels, guesthouses, cafés, and stores selling shoes, bicycles, clothing and even cloth swastikas and SA brown shirts. Some ads identify the store owner as a Nazi Party member (Pg for Parteigenosse) and there are also a few obituaries of Nazi Party members that died

The edges of the rare 88 year old Nazi newspaper show its age as one might expect but this example of the Westdeutsches Grenzblatt is complete and in good used condition. No odor.
