This is at first glance a relatively standard type 6-1/2 x 8-1/4 inch, 18 page new-old-stock ruled paper notebook of the sort used by virtually every German student during the Third Reich. This one was made to be sold in Austria BEFORE the Nazi Anschluß (reunification) and has a sentimental, patriotic poem printed in black on the front cover.

In order to salvage a quantity of these patriotic tablets after the German Anschluß, the manufacturer changed the stock number from item 3 to item 5 and overprinted a red message on the gray cover. It says: “Austria, the Eastern Province of Greater Germany 13 March 1938” accompanied by two swastikas.

A truly remarkable piece of Third Reich history in unused condition.
