This is a genuine Third Reich era silver metal hinged picture frame containing two photos behind glass.
The photo on the left shows a wooden military grave marker topped with an Iron Cross. The information on the marker is:
Ober Leutnant Theobald Egghofer 3./Schw. Werfer Rgt 1, date of birth 21 April 1900 Nieder-Neustift, date of death 9 May 1942. Egghofer died while serving at Simferopol in the Crimea (Ukraine).
A lot of information about Generaloberst Erich von Manstein’s 11th Army capture of Simferopol in November 1941 as well as Jewish massacres that took place at Simferopol is available by googling Simferopol online.
We assume the photo on the right is of the fallen Nazi officer Egghofer.
The frame measures 2-1/4 x 3-1/2 inches (folded up 1-5/8 x 2-1/4 inches). The photos, glass and backing are held in the frames by a bent piece of flat spring bronze that presses the parts together. Very good used condition.
